Old Skool Femdom – Madame Magazine

Before the advent of the Internet the world of femdom was a secretive and underground place, one way to indulge your desires were female domination magazines. These were not easy to find and had to be subscribed to or purchased from rather sleazy sex shops.

XXX
The most famous in the UK was Madame in a World of Fantasy from Swish productions. Alongside other titles including: Smooth, Amazons in Action, Fighting Gals Monthly, Claws and The World of Transvestism.

The first issue of Madame magazine was published in 1974 (see image 1 above). And below you can see examples of how it evolved through the 70s into the 80s from crude drawings to amateur black & white photography.

Very tame by today’s standards back in the censored past the magazine did run into issues with the police in 1986 (see image 2 above). Though appears to have successfully navigated a path through the difficulties as the magazine did continue.

These were always interesting publications, with a good mix of art and stories. Nothing like holding one of these mags in your hands! The Internet is great, but the tangibility of the magazines is sorely missed.

    • Yes and the tangibility creates a fixed point, the style, the age of the paper, how rumpled up it is – you know its time and place. The internet doesn’t communicate whether a photo is 20 years old or 2 years old it disposes of all the mediums and the messages they convey.

    dear Mistress Sidonia
    a great mag sorly missed
another good mag at the same time was Miss Sadie Stern all in glorious colour

Yes I remember fumbling around in suburban newsagents looking for these titles and really nervous someone I know would walk in.

I remember Miss Sadie Stern very fondly as it opened my eyes that wasn’t the only person in the world with penchant for fem-dom. The photography leaved a lot to be desired but the stories were very well written, vivid and imaginative. I never envisaged that was the start of such and an exciting journey and I would one day be one of those submissives helpless before an unforgiving and awesome mistress.

In the mid to late 80’s as a teenager I remember discovering Madame in a world of Fantasy magazine and my favourite, which isn’t shown here, Sadie Sterns Monthly. They were a fantastic discovery but my God I was terrified that anyone would find my stash under the garden shed.

    • Stephen Lang says:

I bought Madam when ever i could i loved the pics and the stories and imagined being put across a English Mistresses lap and given a good long and hard spanking . Then i found the English Mistresses life style establishment and have served them as a house slave never been happier

  4. JASON J LAMARR says:

i had similar magazines in my desk at work way back in the 70’s………. I wasn’t embarassed……but slightly shocked when discovered by my co-workers……they made inquiries/…….which I CONVENIENTLY BLEW OFF… CONTINUING TO FANTASIZE…PRIVATELY……….IN MY OFFICE….

Madame was my first real insight to the world of femdom. And I absolutely agree that the internet is amazing itโ€™s no substitute for a magazine.I then become a huge fan of the amazing Cruella and Goddess publications.

Mmmm I adored these magazines back in the day and that little special discreet shop
    near Southwick bridge canal street

  8. Peter Wood says:

Back in the day, here in the States, I used to buy Dominant Mystique: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/dominant-mystique-female-domination-1874506508

Buying them from the magazine shop was embarrassing, but what was a boy to do!
